About

I am a Senior Computer Vision Engineer at Ecopia AI, where I am building various computer vision and machine learning technologies for Digitizing the World using AI.

Brief Bio

Before joining Ecopia, I was a Research Team Lead and Senior Researcher working at Borealis AI, (an RBC Institute for Research) at Toronto, ON, Canada, from November 2016 to May 2021. I worked on various fundamental research problems, including adversarial robustness, adversarial learning, AutoML, dimensionality reduction, explainability; and applied ML problems in banking, including capital market applications, ML model validation, and etc.

I was an Artificial Intelligence Researcher at Kindred AI, from May 2015 to November 2016, where I worked on machine learning and computer vision for robotics.

I was a research scientist, from January 2014 to April 2015, working with Dr. Graham Taylor at School of Engineering, University of Guelph, Canada. There, I worked on deep learning and representation learning.

I got my Master of Applied Science degree from School of Engineering Science at Simon Fraser University (Burnaby, BC, Canada). I worked on medical image analysis with Dr. Mirza Faisal Beg. At SFU, I worked on 2 projects: 1) analysis of spatial-temporal zebrafish heart optical mapping data; 2) automated detection of retinal fluids from OCT images.

I got my Bachelor of Engineering degree from School of Advanced Engineering (academic talent program) at Beihang University (Beijing, China), where I studied Automation, specifically, flight control system.

I spent nearly 20 years at Handan, Hebei, China (河北, 邯郸) before college.
